About this property

Welcome to Brownsover Hall Hotel

Brownsover Hall Hotel occupies a grand Victorian Gothic mansion set amidst its own attractive gardens in Rugby. The traditional-style rooms reflect the building’s historic character, with some featuring period furnishings and elegant décor. While certain suites are spacious and well-appointed, some accessibility limitations exist due to the property’s heritage features.

The hotel offers a range of practical amenities including free Wi-Fi, complimentary parking, room service, and kid-friendly facilities. Guests can enjoy meals at the on-site restaurant and unwind in the bar, both praised for quality food and attentive service. Though lacking air conditioning, a fitness center, pool, pet accommodations, and airport shuttles, the property maintains a smoke-free environment and strives to meet diverse guest needs.

Located about two miles from Rugby’s key cultural attractions such as the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, Brownsover Hall is convenient for visitors interested in exploring local history and the nearby countryside. Well-known sites beyond Rugby include Coventry Cathedral and the Coventry Transport Museum, both within reasonable driving distance.

Guest reviews often highlight the tasteful restoration of the building and the high standard of the food and drink offerings. However, some feedback notes occasional service inconsistencies, reflecting a balance between boutique charm and operational refinement. Overall, the hotel appeals to those seeking characterful accommodation in a peaceful setting with convenient access to local sights.

Lovely restoration of a gorgeous building. We got married at another hotel that this chain has just bought, so thought we'd see what we can look forward to there. And based on this hotel, we can't wait! We had a stunning suite (Bolingbroke) which is on the ground floor, though it does have steps for those with mobility issues. The restaurant and afternoon tea catered for my wife who is gluten free (coeliac), and all the food was great. Staff were also very welcoming and helpful. We did have a few issues, the main one being the disabled entrance at rear (which is also a fire exit!) being locked in the morning. Not good... I also didn't get a check-in time in confirmation email so had to call them, and I got conflicting info when I did. The grounds are lovely, and nextdoor is a nature reserve. Which was unfortunately very muddy, so hopefully we can come back when drier.

We had dinner (again) at the hotel this week. We were not disappointed. When we arrived we saw that a group of about 30ish diners had just sat down. We thought to ourselves that we might have a little wait but we did not! The restaurant had clearly been staffed to take into account the group in order that other diners weren't disappointed. The service was fabulous, everyone who served us was friendly, polite and also helpful with menu choices. Big thank you to Harry for the Poached Pear recommendation! The food was just as good as our first visit. Such a beautiful hotel and well worth a visit even if you are just passing and fancy a coffee (which we have also done twice since it re-opened!) Thanks again.

Under new ownership and management! We stayed here For 1 night on Boxing Day 2025. From the moment we arrived we felt warmly welcomed and in the lap of luxury. Friendly staff showed us to our room which was tastefully decorated with historical furnishings with a nod to the Gothic mansions history. Open log fires downstairs are warming and mesmerising. The Bar is elegant yet relaxing with an impressive selection of beers, spirits and fine wines. Espresso Martinis were exceptional. Food was simply on another level. We had eggs Benedict for breakfast, sea bass and lamb chops for dinner. The quality and presentation of the food was outstanding and on par with a Michelin star restaurant. The grounds are beautifully kept and the historic bridge over the river, with its old lamplights either side feels like a scene from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Cannot recommend highly enough. We shall return!

We booked brunch at Boughton’s and overall had a lovely experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the decor is particularly impressive - they’ve clearly done a fantastic job with the renovation. The reason for four stars rather than five comes down to the service. For a hotel that is clearly positioning itself within the luxury boutique market, there were a few details that didn’t quite meet expectations. We ordered a latte which arrived in what appeared to be a plastic cup. Unfortunately, the cup was also cracked and dirty. When we raised this with a member of staff, rather than being helpful, we were told it was glass because “they shatter.” We asked if it could be served in a mug instead and expected a fresh drink in a proper cup. Instead, we were simply given an empty ceramic cup and had to transfer the drink ourselves - which didn’t feel particularly in keeping with the otherwise high-end setting. When it came time to leave, we also had to collect our coats from the stand ourselves, despite them having been taken from us on arrival. Again, it’s a small detail, but one you would typically expect to be handled for you in this type of venue. The food itself was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it, although the Full English Breakfast was slightly small for the price. We also noted that a 10% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Given the level of service we experienced, this felt difficult to justify. Overall, the hotel is undeniably lovely, but there does seem to be a mismatch between the beautiful setting and the level of service currently being delivered.

Enjoyed afternoon tea in Boughtons for friend's birthday treat. The savoury dishes were well presented and very filling. Only negative comment was I had to ask for clean cutlery to spread jam and cream on scones. The staff provided boxes to take home the delicious cakes which were enjoyed at a later stage. A very knowledable member of staff explained the hand painted wall covering and the different aspects of historical relevance to the history of the hall. A lovely setting with beautiful decor.

Absolutely love Brownsover Hall Hotel. The new décor is stunning and really complements the character of the building. The gardens are beautiful too, such a peaceful setting. The team are always so friendly, professional, and helpful. It’s quickly become my regular spot for a meal or just a drink. The bar area is gorgeous, the staff are fantastic, and it’s dog-friendly which makes it even better. Easy 5 stars from me, highly recommend!

Had an early dinner in Scott's restaurant and was most impressed. Delious seabass, very well seasoned and presented my partner had steak that was equally good. Service very attentive and welcoming. The refurb throughout is beautiful, such attention to detail. The grounds look stunning too. Will definately be back.
